School amgzine edits.

These photos show 3 stages in my editing of my photo.
1) this is the very first photo I took, as you can see - it is very dark and needs brightening up, her face needs brightening and the background needs to be cropped.
2) here I have used photoshop to crop the backgrounf and add contrast, brighten and saturate slightly - although there is a slight turquise hue that needsto be warmed so the image does not look so cold.
3) I habe ade more yellow to the hair and saturated so that the blue tint goes. the face is sighly pink but It is better than the blue. The jumper looks brighter and the highlights and midtones of her hair are more niticable.

The clothes...
She is weairng a patterned jumper to show that she is quite modest about what she wears but that she is not boring either.
Her earrings go with the jumper and her necklace does not distract from the face, but gives the impression of a fashioanble teenager.

The background...
The white background was needed so that I had plenty of space to arrange my taglines and masthead without it looking too crowded.

final edit photo for music magazine

This is my final edit of my front cover image. I have changed the background to a simple, cold coloured pattern to divert atention away from what's behind my friend but to who she is and what she is doing. The use of a cool colour makes her stand out and gives a sense of depth. I have used photoshop once again to saturate her eyes, edit hair, whiten teeth and brighten and saturate the colours of her scarf and y guitar weich she is holding.her jumpter has been darkened to make the guitar (which is the main focus of the magazine ) stand out and appea5r to be more luminous. My friend is facing the camera and the first thing you are drawn to is her eyes, which i have whitened and saturated to give the impression of her being a clean, alert person and the fact she is smiling shows she is happy and carefree, which is the target audience i am trying to attract.

first edit

this is my first edit, which i did on photoshop. It has been clour enhanced and the guitar has been brightened.
I will crop out the drain in the background and possibly change the background.

double page spread

This is my double page spread in which i have included an interview witht the featured artist who is also in the front cover. the pictures are in the centre so the eye is immediatly drawn to them and the qestions and answers are in different colours of text, making it easy to follow and navigate the page.

school magazine final

this magazine accomodates all the attributes of my target audience , it is bright without being too hard on the eye and ties in with real-life school events at that time.
The codes and conventions of a school magazine have been challenged by having the masthead running down the side vertically, and there is also a stripe that runs along the spine of the cover.
